About Sean
Sean Inman (M. Ed, B.A. Hons, P.G.C.E.) is the Senior School Subject Coordinator for Positive Education at St. Peter’s College together with being a Head of House, a teacher of Positive Education and Health & PE and the Technical Development Coach for Soccer. Prior to this, Sean was formerly the Director of Physical Education and Sport at Lady Lumley’s School, a Specialist Sports College, in North Yorkshire, England.
Whilst in the UK, Sean also played and coached semi-professional Soccer, after having represented England schoolboys and having completed 2 years of a soccer scholarship in USA.
After migrating to Australia in 2003, Sean held the role of the Director of Co-curricular at St Peter’s College for 8 years and since completing his Masters in Educational Leadership and Management (2014), Sean has focused upon his new role as Subject Coordinator for Positive Education.
As the Senior School Subject Coordinator for Positive Education, Sean has led and overseen the development of a taught curriculum of Positive Education in Years 7, 8 and 10. The curriculum has become increasingly renowned for its uniqueness and creativity after building upon the foundation programs which Professor Seligman and his University of Pennsylvania team created for the school, in 2012. In recent years, Sean has hosted visitors from across the globe (UK, Dubai, Finland, New Zealand, Canada, USA) who are keen to learn about the content and structure of the taught Wellbeing program at St. Peter’s College. Additionally, Sean has hosted Positive Education Professional Development days for neighbouring schools in Adelaide.
A gifted facilitator, Sean has presented his work in positive education at many conferences including: the International ACHPER conference in Melbourne (November, 2013);the ACHPER SA conferences in Adelaide (April, 2014 and 2015), the International and state Positive Education Schools Association (PESA) conferences in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. Since 2017, Sean has helped to lead the implementation of Visible Wellbeing across the St. Peter’s College senior school. As part of this process, Sean developed a Visible Wellbeing focused Sports Leadership workshop which all sport captains (and coaches) are required to attend. The Captains aim to apply Visible Wellbeing concepts as an essential part of their leadership role.
